Defence and security company Saab has finished the Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) project for Uljin Airfield and Muan International Airport in South Korea.
As part of the project, Saab also deployed the multilateration (MLAT) sensors with automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) capability.
Saab said that the implementation of Saab’s A-SMGCS and MLAT sensors with ADS-B will improve surveillance coverage and tracking capabilities of air traffic movements at and near the two airports.
The A-SMGCS can combine and correlate surveillance data with flight plan data from sources such as the Daegu and Incheon Area Control Centre.
