Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has welcomed a range of new artworks by ten artists in nine installations across Terminals 1, 3, 7 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
The project was presented by the Los Angeles World Airport’s (LAWA) art programme with the aim of complementing the recently opened terminal spaces.

According to LAX, the art displays are set to showcase “the vibrancy of LA through sculpture, painting, photography, murals and multimedia”.
Bea Hsu, interim CEO at LAWA pointed to the artistic reputation of Los Angeles and how this is represented through the airports display.
Hsu said: “The range of artworks on view at LAX is a testament to the boundless creativity that makes Los Angeles a key contemporary art destination in the world, with the new installations allowing passengers to explore different perspectives on our city”.
“Whether they are headed out of town or coming to LA this holiday season, guests are sure to find artwork that reminds them of what makes Los Angeles so vibrant and engaging.”

By GlobalDataOne of the pieces on display is Trinh Mai’s hand-painted mural, “Arise. Shine. Thy Light is Come” which gathered its inspiration from “songbirds that call Los Angeles home”.
Spanning the Mezzanine hallway, Mai’s piece introduces a reflection of Cambodian culture for LAX passengers.
Sarah Cifarelli, Art Program Director, LAX added: “LAX’s Art Program is focused on showcasing works by Southern Californian artists who express and amplify the creativity of our region”.
Another piece on display across the terminal spaces includes Margaret Lazzari and Lauren Evans’s “The View from Above”. Featuring a picturesque landscape of Santa Monica Bay, the mural is said to emphasise “the city’s vastness, movement and sense of potential”.
Spread across the Arrivals Level at the Tom Bradley International Terminal is the “Replotted Paths and Replanted Gardens” piece by Sharon Louise Barnes.
